Printer's acting up!

Had a lousy week at the office.
Been running around (site visits),
And working rather late, because of a techincal problem that refuses to go away.
Okay, it's Sunday, so no discussion of work...

Friday night was the company's dinner and dance,
Or rather, dinner and getting drunk?
There was no dancing...
Only eating and chatting, plus a few getting tipsy after all that beer and cheap wine, and going around asking other people to be like them.
One colleague was so drunk that he went on stage to give a personal dance item, and try to steal the spotlight from the emcee!!
Well, that actually up the entertainment quotient of a, otherwise, dull evening.
The programme was so-so, the emcee wasn't that good, (That's what I think)
But I had been a committee member before, so I understand how it works.
Imagine, trying to get everybody what they want, on a shoe-string budget...

Did some printing for my beads inventory,
(Yes, I do keep an inventory of my supplies, to keep track of my spendings.)
Printer is acting up again.
Yeah, my 2.5 year old epson photo printer will soon be calling it quits.
It is now protesting with gaps and lines in my printouts,
No matter how I clean the nozzle (or whatever that process is called).
Behave now, you stupid printhead!

The author is now trying very hard to nurse the printer back to health, hopefully not at the expense of more ink cartridges.
Her 5 year old scanner has fungus on the glass, so the scans are not as sharp.
So, besides "Fiona's buy-a-car" fund, she is looking into setting up a "Fiona's buy-a-all-in-one-printer" fund, to replace her ailing printer and scanner.
Please kindly lend your support!

Go, Lions, go!!

I watched the news last night in dismay.
Singapore lost 1-2 to Vietnam at the SEA games in Philippines.
Oui~! What happened?
Must win, ok? Else you dun even get to play in the semis...
Well, so much for supporting local football.

I am not a very big football fan.
But I do get up at 2am in the morning during the World Cup,
Just to catch a live match on TV.
Dun ask why...
Maybe I just like to watch 20 grown men, chasing a silly ball around the pitch.
And thousands more cheering them on. Wahahahaha!!!!

Today is a wonderful day.
I have finally solve a work problem, after a week of troubleshooting.
Tomorrow will be a better day,
Where other smaller problems will also be solved.
Hmmm~~!!

Past week

Crazy. That's how I describe the past week.
The customer is here to check the goods.
Site visits. On-site tests.
I was at my desk for, like 1 hour only, everyday.
The rest are spent on site visits and 'entertaining' the customer,
Giving in to his every whim.
So glad he has left...

I must be getting old.
Or really, really unfit.
All these moving around had my whole body aching.
Maybe I should join a yoga class like Supeng.
But really, is yoga any good?
I dunno, haven't tried it.
Tried, lazy, can't be bothered.
Whatever.

I read in a chinese magazine,
That there are only lazy women, never ugly women.
Ok, I am lazy... So?
Geez... Just can't get my lazy bones up and running.
Think I shall just snooze for a while.

I saw some really ignorant people while coming home by bus one night.
They realised that the EZlink reader (the one which you tap your stored value cashcard when you alight)
Only operate when the exit door is open.
So when it was their turn to alight,
Somehow, there was a delay in turning on the reader.
And the reader didn't work for a good half a minute.
This man then started scolding the bus driver,
Saying he is sleeping or what,
Open the door only, and not the reader.
Gosh!! The reader is not controlled by the bus driver at all!
It is just a delayed reaction from the electronics...

I pity the bus driver, it was never his fault!

Lazy weekend

Had a long work week.
So I tot I should relax for the weekend.
Yup, I laze around the house.

Look what Supeng got for me from her Bangkok trip.
Big, no, should be giant beads.
And they are all rocks. (Read: Heavy.)
I haven't figure out what to do with them yet.

Spend the weekend coming up with some beaded jewellery.
You can view them at Fiona's bead bar.

Next week will be hectic as well...
Work, work and more work...
Arghh~~!!

We are not gracious at all...

Oh golly!! (Hee, I picked this up while watching a really old movie.)
Did I write that?
I mean, did I wrote that we are not gracious at all?

WE ARE NOT GRACIOUS.
Yes, me included.

In response to my previous blog entry,
Iceman wrote,
"XiaXue wrote that the handicap loos - bigger and equipped with a sink - were not just for the disabled people. Able-bodied can use it too. She also critized a diabled person for scolding a able-bodied person for using the handcapped loo."

Yeah, actually I knew what XX did.
Whatever she did, golly, she appeared in the papers again!

It goes to show just how different people's reactions are.
XX lost 2 out of 3 of her endorsements, just because she said it's ok to use a toilet meant for the disabled.
Well, I think so too, as long as there is no disabled people waiting to use the loo at that time.
Why, they can't wait a little while, just like everybody else?

The toilets are one thing.
The wide gates in the MRT stations are another.
How many times have an able-bodied person pass thru using that wide gate?
No wheelchairs, no baby prams, no luggage, no heavy parcels...
If I were to collect 10 cents per able-bodied person, I'd be a millionaire by now.

Once, I actually saw a lady pushing a baby pram,
Waiting to exit from the station, using the wide gate.
And there were streams of people, normal people, just passing thru the gate from the other side, like she was transparent.
And the staff in the control room just looked on...

Geez... And I tot the wide gate is meant for disabled people in wheelchairs, people with baby prams, people with luggage, etc...
So, in the same logic, if it is ok to abuse the use of the wide gate in the MRT stations, it should be ok to use the toilet meant for the disabled, right?

Yesterday, I had the satisfaction of slamming the lift door on one of my neighbour's face.
Wah, shiok, eh!!!
Wahahahaha!!
I don't like this neighbour.

Once I saw him coming towards the lift, so I hold the lift door open for him.
He entered the lift, press the button for his floor, and proceed to stand at the other corner, and start to stare at the display at the top of the door.
So I entered, the door almost slamming me, (Blast those automatic lifts...)
And press the button for my floor and the 'door close' button.

When the lift door opens at his floor, I again hold the lift door open for him.
He stepped out, without a sidewards glance.

Hell, I am not some kind of elevator boy!!
Even elevator boys get tips!!!
I owe him one, eh??
Geez...

And they say we are not gracious... Blah!

While the author thinks that it is ok to use the facilities meant for special people,
She maintains that they should only be used when the special people does not need it at that time.
She, however, seldom, almost never, use these special facilities, unless absolutely necessary.
And she still holds the lift door open for her other neighbours, and if they nod or say thanks, she would smile back in return and make small talk.
