Another Valentine's Day...
By myself.
Many things has happened in the last year.
Good, bad, happy, sad, being together, being alone...
I experienced all kind of emotions... within a year.

I have been enjoying myself for the better half of my life,
Someone up there probably thinks it's time for me to "experience real life" now.
I really think so.
I was brought up in a sheltered environment (Well, fortunate enough...)
And now find myself exposed to the elements, naked.
No cover, and no where to hide.

I have to plan my life, rebuild it.
Whether I like it or not, it is something I have to do.
Only it will be easier, if there is someone by my side.

I have been working 16/7 for almost 2 months.
That is 16 hours for 7 days a week...
If I am not an executive, I would have earn a fortune right now.

Not that I am complaining, but the hours have put a toll on my body.
I hit the sack once I got home, leaving little time for anything else.

I wish these days would end soon...
Looking forward to spending some time on my hobbies.
Need to make Christmas presents for all the kind people I know!!

Sunday morning.
Wake up feeling... Well~

Decided to make pudding.
It was easy.
One packet of powder from Phoon Huat can make 4 cups.
I raid my kitchen. Found a can of aloe vera I bought a couple of weeks before.
So here goes~

Strawberry and Mango pudding, with aloe vera bits~~
Neighbour got half share.

Afternoon.
Feeling bored.
Remembering I bought glutinous rice flour a while back.
Make Muah Chee~~

Cannot finish, give half to neighbour... :)

But I went to NTUC today and bought ingredients to make Muah Chee.
Humpf! I must be crazy~~

Then I realised that I am missing quite a number of utensils.
I dun even have a proper mixing bowl large enough to hold my pudding mixture...
(Haiz~ Long story.)
MIA list includes strainer, whisk, weighing machine, measuring cup... (too long to mention here.)

Looks like I have to do some housekeeping and more shopping~!

Check out this stall at Chinatown Complex.
My personal favourite is the almond paste.
Smooth paste, not too sweet…
The red bean paste has a tinge of orange peel in it,
Just like how Grandmother prepares it.
Dad loves the sesame paste.
Smooth, not too sweet, and most importantly, none of the burnt smell
(Like some other stalls I have tasted.)

J and I went to Shokudo @ Raffles City.
It was supposed to be a class reunion,
But we are all a “shy” bunch.
Heck, they won’t turn up even if invitations are given in gold.

Anyway, Shokudo serves Japanese food, “Marche” style.
We tried the omelette, hot plate and pizza.
Not too bad, but I wouldn’t give it high marks either.
Go there if only you have $$$ to spare.

Anyway, I am kept pretty busy with my work commitments.
Money is very hard to earn, you know.
Besides, I have a very sharp boss, so I have gotta be on my toes all the time.
It also feels good to learn something new almost every other day.

I am taking a break from preparing for a presentation on Monday,
Plus a major report submission on Tuesday...
And happen to read the following article from a magazine:

See, I am even taking a break from you-know-what.

Last week was a really bad week for me.
The test plan I wrote was totally rejected.
Imagine being a test engineer for 10 years,
And having your test plan rejected!
“This is a very good and detailed test plan, but you are not running a project now. No, this test plan will not work. You must write a marketing test plan, address all the customer’s concerns! Re-write it again!”
I mean, how stupid can I get?
I keep forgetting that I am in a totally different ballgame right now.
Anyhow, I churn out a brand new test plan in four hours,
Barely making the deadline. *Pant! Pant!

Well, gotta “cheong” for another week.
Hopefully, I can get some rest at the end of the week and probably get my hair done, my nails manicured and my “depression” cured!

A friend told me he has difficulty in starting conversations with strangers...

I was painfully shy then.
At parties, I would stand in a corner, hoping to blend in with the wall.
It is best that nobody speak to me, notices me, what-so-ever...

Then I thought...
What’s the use of going to parties?
Parties are for mingling with other people, getting to know more friends, etc.
Yeah, easier said than done.
I am always conscious of what other people will think of me.

Then I told myself,
H*ck! This kind of life is boring, I want to enjoy myself, so why bother what other people say?
And thus, I slowly began to open up.
I became talkative.
I began to smile more.
I volunteer to organize outings.
Soon, I become the centre of attention.
Everybody knows Fiona.

Deep down inside, I am still shy.
But if you can take a deep breath and start talking to someone,
Beautiful things will happen to you.

I had to “run” to catch up.
But h*ll! The satisfaction at the end of the ride is most enjoyable, however short-lived.

I am finally feeling good about my career switch.
Yup, after almost 9 months...
Of struggles, frustrations, anxieties, sleeplessness, stress.
I really hope I am finally making something good with my life,
Something which I can feel and strive for.
I think this is it.
I must give my best in whatever I do.

Really!!?!
It really made my day.
(You have no idea how much I want to be slimmer!)
However, I guess my losing weight is due to fatigue and stress.
Not a very good thing in the long run.
I must really learn to time-manage and control my stress level.

Come to think of it,
Whenever I feel stressed recently, I turned to watching Taiwan or Korean dramas,
Instead of 'stuffing' myself silly with food.
Probably that’s why...
I just hope that this will be a short term effect,
But my weight loss will remain forever!

What happened??!?

I was reading some of my previous blog entries and realized…
I can write better English then. I don’t know.

A colleague of 14 years was hospitalised for an infection of the gall bladder.
He was scheduled for an operation to remove the infected part.
The group of us made plans to visit him on Saturday, but he was transferred to the ICU after the op.

What? The ICU? That serious?? Oh god, what happened??

Luckily, (and it calmed my nerves a bit) he sms-ed us to say he was being transferred back to the normal ward the next day. Phew!

Well, he made a remarkable recovery and I am very glad.
Life is really unpredictable, and very fragile.

On a lighter note,
I had my fair share of coincidences last weekend.
I mean, just how small can this world be??

Well, I just found out that one of my malay-class classmate has more things in common that just being in the same malay-class with me.
Just how coincidental is that? :-)

This is truly a small small world.

Well, did I mentioned that I was taking malay lessons at SDS?
We are into the 9th lesson next week...
(Beginning Class of 10 lessons.)
So we will be "graduating" in 2 weeks... Hahaha~~
Hee... I can't even form a decent sentence that really make sense.

All that matters is that you read it and cared.

Cats hunt mice,
Human beings hunt... weaker human beings.

Life’s fair, especially for those on top of the food chain.

I feel really crappy.
It doesn’t take a lot to make me see that I am really nothing in this world.
Not even worth a speck of dust.
Yep, that’s how I really feel.
All those talk about wanting to be somebody, do something,
Comes to naught when you are put down in your proper place by someone whom you respect.
Maybe I am not cut out to own a pair of wings...
I just can’t do anything right.
I can’t focus on anything, other than the pressure that I am facing.
Deep down I know that is wrong, but...

There must be a simpler way to do things.
I just can’t get the grasp of it, and it is driving me crazy.
I am really jealous of people who can work happily and handle pressure well.
How long will I take to be like them??
I am getting impatient with myself, a little frustrated even.

Hans offers one of the best blackforest cakes, and at an affordable price too!
Chunks of blueberry found between two layers of chocolate sponge.
Wonder how they make the chocolate cream and chips that goes at the side of the cake. Dee-lee-cious!!

I was chided again (yes, again...)
For not updating this blog often enough.

I had a crazy 2 weeks...
The customer was here for product buy-off,
So everybody is busy entertaining them.
Read: doing tricks, acting silly and playing dead...

Anyhow, the week after that, I was busy preparing for a tender submission.
Tons of paperwork, spelling and grammar to go through...
Ok, my England is not that powder-ful to start with...
Oh, how I miss engineering!

The company Dinner and Dance was last Friday.
Yup, yours truly was serving in the organising committee again.
That’s 2 years in a row!
Let’s see, I served in 2007 and 2006, I think I served in 2004 and 2003 as well.
Thus making me sort of a pro at serving people!!! Hahahaha!!

Busy with life, tired

Been working very hard lately,
Trying double hard to keep up with the BOSS.
No, I am not buttering up to him, just trying to get the job done is tiring enough.
Where got time to "sa-kar"?

My boss is a very demanding man, and now, working directly under him,
I have to be on my toes all the time.
I really have to "run" to keep up with him...
Also, my job function has been switched from engineering to marketing.
Complete opposites!
Give me time to adjust, make that "Give me LOTS of time to adjust..."
Just hope I don't let my boss down.

Today is 妹妹's birthday.
Sorry I can't celebrate it with her. :(
I was at home, rearranging new furniture in my living room.
Which is now still in quite a mess... No photos, ok??!?!
My poor bones are still aching from all that pushing and shoving...

Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EILEEN!!

Well, my hobbies will have to take a break.

Saturday was a fine day

I was reading some of my blog entries from a year ago, and realized that my English was much better then. Humf!
I can’t even write a decent entry now. Think I am slowly losing my language ability... Help!

It was a pretty fine day.
Not very hot, not raining either.
Makes a very good day for shopping.

Lunch first.
We chose a quaint Chinese Dim Sum restaurant.
Dim Sum is our all time favourite.
Har Kow, Siew Mai are something we cannot do without.
Hehe, yummy, yummy!

Shopping after lunch.
We scored the departmental store, twice.
Yeah, typical Singaporeans, always on the lookout for bargains.
By the way, I almost bought another laptop bag.
I already have 3 of them.
I am such a sucker for bags...
In the end, I just settle for some electrical plug extensions and DVD.

I spotted something in one of the shops.
It sells DIY materials, where you can choose a base, stick some characters on it, and an option to include the names or whatever message on it.
I was so drawn to it that I couldn’t resist putting together something for my brother.
It features a heart-shaped base, with a wooden bench in the middle, and a pair of bride and groom sitting on it.
Yeah, my brother is getting married... Hehe.
Shhh... It was supposed to be a secret.
So, sorry, no photo in this blog.

Anyhow, what better way to rest those tired feet than with a warm cup of Teh-C?

I was also on a lookout for LCD, a replacement for my 15” CRT.
Desktop or laptop?
My desktop was already 6 years old, and the CRT has decided to call it a day.
However, I am quite reluctant to give it up, because it is still running on Windows 98 (yeah, Windows 98, it was that long ago), and has lots of my “previous” version of software in it.
Dipping into my Fiona’s Buy-a-LCD fund, soon.

New Shoes

I got into a little of a shoe fetish recently.
Bought a pair of shoes last week.

I love it! I always like shoes like these.
It is metallic bronze in colour, with a cute little bow in the front,
And ankle straps. (So that I can run in them?? Hahaha!)

Then I bought another pair yesterday.

Pumps (they are called pumps, right?) with flowery embroidery.
And yes, cute bow in the front. Mmm...
Bows are in fashion or what? I am a fashion nutcase.
Anyway, as long as shoes are concerned, I go more for comfort instead of style.
But of course, the shoes have to catch my attention first.
Well, that's a girl's life for ya!

Dinner at Sakura

Had dinner at Sakura (Somerset) with colleagues.

No particular reason, just hanging out.
And stuffing ourselves silly too, of course. Hahaha~~!

I have neglected this blog for too long.
Well-meaning friends have been harping me to do updates...
Then again, my life is sooo boring; Who’d want to read about it?

Anyway, back to Live Earth Day.
There is nothing else on Channel 5.
No late night movies, no feature films, no TV series...
Just concerts from around the world.
And half the time, of musicians I don’t know.
Okay, I have been quite out of touch with the music scene,
But frankly, the Live Earth Concerts does not really appeal to me, at all.
Apart from everything "green".

Bought a MP3 player. Cost me $79. I dunno if it’s a bargain, but... I am really happy!

Philips 1Gb MP3 player with FM radio and voice recording.

I have been wanting and wanting one of these babies for donkey years.
I finally owned one!

So the last few nights was spent ripping CDs into MP3s for my new "baby".
The LCD screen backlight is green in colour, which is a surprise, because I have no idea before I turn on the player.
Can display Chinese characters so more, you know!
I love it! Love it! Love it!

Went to East Coast Park on Wednesday.

The whole group of colleagues went there with the customer.

I am suffering from withdrawal...
No more Hana Kimi!!
Somehow, I found myself loitering around, refusing to go home.
After all, there is nothing nice to watch on TV anymore.
No more Ella, Wu Chun, Jiro or Ryan...
Simply no more funny clips that make me forget the stress and annoyance I faced at work.

Drats! I want to buy the VCD box set of Hana Kimi,
But, heck! So expensive!
(Okay, I am a miser... So?)
I am really NOT willing to pay more than $25 for the whole series...
BTW, I only paid $23.90 for the VCD box set of Princess Hours.
Heehee, always happy when I found a good bargain.
So far, the VCDs turn out alright, so it is ok.

IT SHOW 2007

Saturday. Rest day. Yeah, still go to work in the morning...
But that’s another story.

Went to the IT SHOW at Suntec City in the afternoon.
Man, so crowded!!
I actually wanted to "look" for a couple of things...
1. Desktop (The HP media center type)
2. Digital Camera (Runs on AA batteries type)
3. Printer ink cartridges (They are having a 20% off at the fair, yippee!!)

But when I reach there, human traffic jam! There are a number of travel fairs on the ground floor, and walking space is greatly reduced.
Especially the walking area in front of the Duck Tours… A big squeeze.

When I reached the IT show, guess what?
Yeah, I can’t even reach the counters to get my hands on the cameras that are on display.
People, people everywhere!
I gave up, so I made my way to the EPSON counter and bought my ink cartridges.
And I won a "designer radio" in the sure-win lucky draw.
Somehow, I couldn’t feel happy because of the crowd.

Met my dad at Carrefour. I was tired from the fair, with all that pushing and shoving, and taking care that I do not lose my precious cargo of ink cartridges.
Went to the Kopitiam for tea, but actually to find a place to sit down and rest.

I like the drama Hana Kimi very much, which is currently showing on Channel U.
It’s kinda like my motivation for coming home after a hard day’s work.
The characters are sooo funny, and Wu Zun looks so dreamy in front of the camera.
I even made some wallpapers for my laptop, based on the comic characters and the drama. Maybe I can share them later in this blog.

Evening, hungry for dinner.

Went to Dad’s favourite chicken rice stall along Thomson Road.
Fiona’s recommendation: $3.50 for a big protion of chicken pieces, in soy sauce, and a plate of rice. Yummy, yummy!

After Lunar New Year

I have to admit...
I had a pretty good rest during the Chinese New Year.
I did not go abroad, but stayed at home, watching lots of VCDs and doing what I loved, polymer clay!
Heehee... I spent most of the time lazing around the house, "resting"!

Currently I was hooked to a new drama called Hanazakarino Kimitachihe (花样少年少女).
Man, Ella was hilarious! The acting was so 夸张. I was laughing from the beginning till the end of the episode. Hehehe!
And the school doctor... I loved his expression whenever Ella’s character need a favour from him.

Anyhow, I will just keep recording from the TV and watch it when I come home from work each night.
Seem like this is the motivation for me to finish work fast and go home!

Lunar New Year

Part reason goes to working late and getting tired.
Other reasons include, laziness, and really having nothing to write about.

Wedding Dinners

There is love in the air...
Attended a friend's chinese wedding dinner last night.
Omigosh! I almost can't recognise the bride!
No lah, kidding only...
Her gown is sooo beautiful!
But her hubby is so thin. :(

Well, singaporeans will be singaporeans...
Many of us are still "stylishly" LATE!!
Man, the invite states the the dinner will commence at 7.30 pm sharp,
But heck, there are still people slowly strolling in at 8 pm... !!
I am sooo hungry!

Things didn't start till around 8.30 ~ 8.45 pm.
A simple solemnisation ceremony, followed by yummy food.
Did I say yummy food? Yup, yummy, yummy food!!
Alas! Yours truly was still nursing a stuck nose and a sore throat...
Yummy food, but I did not get to enjoy it to the fullest. Sad!
Luckily, my brother saved me (and my throat) with some "stand-by" Strepsils!

Well, I managed to get a ride home at the end of the dinner...

Disappointment

A friend’s wedding dinner is on Saturday.
The restaurant is located neither near an MRT station or bus stop.
And I don’t drive.

Just imagine, being dressed up to the nines, and wearing heels,
Catching a bus, and walking a few hundred metres to the venue.
I will be lucky if it didn’t rain, and I wasn’t dripping in perspiration when I reach there.

And I can’t even get a decent ride from any of my friends.
什么出外靠朋友，都是假的！

Or maybe I live on Mars (not on the way)!
Think I will stick to the bus…
I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF! THANKS!

Last days of the year

Finally, long periods of slogging away at work gave way to block days of leave.
Haha! Alas, days of leave are spent at home, away from the rain…

How to go out?

Anyhow, clear days after Christmas…
Goody, now I can go for some much needed shopping…
It was crowded everywhere.

I went to Ikea Tampines yesterday.
Wow! The place was huge!
The layout is similar to that of Alexander’s.
But they have stations of fun for the kids shattered through out the store.
Cute!
But I didn’t get to enjoy much…
The restaurant was crowded, and long queues at the checkouts.
But I did manage to get my favourite Swedish biscuits.
Yeah, greedy me…

The "cowgirls" are part of the pre-show entertainment.
Pretty, and pretty hot!

Had a company function last Friday night.
Yup, I was part of the organising committee (yes, again... *Groan!)
And I am in charge of the lucky draw.
Heck, it was the busiest task ever.
I was running up and down the ballroom, getting all the numbers ready for the entertainment company to flash on the screen for everybody else to see.
And I hardly eat, let alone see what the entertainment was all about...

I also have a hangover from drinking half a glass of red wine.
Yeah, I was so tired that I woke up the next morning with a headache and a sore throat. :(
Great! Fancy being sick on a Saturday...

Hazy Weekend

Happens every year.
Around this time of the year, the clear skies are usually clouded in smog.

It is like you are smelling a fire, without actually feeling the heat.

Talking about heat, temperatures are up too!
(A bit lah!)
The fans in my apartment are on all the time...
I didn’t go outside.
No place to go, or rather no $$$ to go (shopping)!

Anyway, spent Saturday afternoon at home doing something I like.
Making miniature cakes with polymer clay.

Delicious! Heehee~! I am very pleased with the results.
This is actually my second attempt at making these cakes.

I am thinking...
I could make them into earrings, or probably charms for bracelets or mobile phones.

I was on leave today.
Yup, I had a date with the handsome dentist.
Right.

So I went to the polyclinic at the appointed time.
The waiting room was crowded.
As I was waiting for my turn, I tuned into a conversation between 2 aunties, seated next to me.
“The elder son haven’t married, but the younger son married already,” one said.
“Aiya, nowadays ok what...” the other answered.
Blah, blah, blah...
Typical aunties’ gossip.

Anyway, my date with the handsome dentist turned out to be...
...
...
Funny.

“Fiona? Just check with you first, do you have high blood, diabetes?”
I must have given him a puzzled look, because he said, “Never heard before?”
I smiled. “No, but got high cholesterol,”
“Die loh!” Handsome dentist exclaimed.
“Must take medication, hor,” He continued.
Wah, first date only, so caring already. :-)
“No, I am not on medication,” I whispered.
“Good, good,” I can’t tell if he is smiling, because he has already put on the d*mn mask, that covered half of his handsome face.

Handsome Dentist: Relax, we will check your teeth, and do the cleaning for you, ok?
Fiona: If you made me nervous, I will bite your hand.
HD: Oh no! You can’t do that.
Somewhere in the background, the nurse was laughing.
HD: This is a job hazard, eh! Nevermind, you bite the dentist, you pay the dentist!

He conducted the health check on my 32 pearlies, and proceed to give them a clean bill of health. Phew!
HD: Now I will clean your teeth. If you bite my hand, this tool will poke you. **Coupled with poking action.
Fiona: .........
This is so unfair.
You have my mouth wide open so that I can’t answer back...

Well, I was in and out of the chair in less than 5 minutes.
Fiona: Done already?!? This is so unfair! I am in this chair for less than 5 minutes!
HD: So, you want stickers, izzit? Har? Izzit??!?
Now he is treating me like a kid... Wahahahaha~~!

Pot-luck at a friend’s abode yesterday.

Food for everyone: Chicken wings, Sushi, Fishballs, Prawnballs, Fish cakes, Crab Claws, Bee Hoon, Fruit salad, Black Forest cake, Coke, Jasmine Tea, Wine, etc.
Entertainment for the kids: Garfield
Entertainment for Adults: Catching up with old times...

Hey, we are a bunch of thirty-somethings, formerly Poly schoolmates, (some are classmates even)...
Kinda time to catch up on each other’s lives...
I haven’t seen them in a long, long time. Somehow our schedules just wouldn’t match.
Till last night, that’s is.
Out of sight, out of mind, almost.
Everybody make an effort to be present, in the name of sending one of our friend on an overseas long trip. I heard he will be away for almost 1+ year.

Everybody seemed so happy, busy with life, little ones, like so contented.
I feel very comfortable them.
Geez… We know each other for ages!
We know who went out with who, who is secretly in love with who, who did some naughty things back then...
We all had a good laugh, just sharing all the fun moments.

And I feel so lucky just to have friends like them.

Setting up “shop”

I am kinda busy, trying to set up "shop", selling my beaded jewellery online.
Being a beginner, I try not to spend too much money in setting up online accounts, whatever, so I use whatever is free. Yeah, me, cheapskate...

For the past week, I have been trying to price my items.
It is really no mean feat.
Like how much is a plastic bead? A colourful bead? A glass bead? A faceted glass bead? A faceted glass bead with flower motif? A 6mm pearl? Etc...??
Not to mention all those misc items like, stringing materials, hooks and clasps, chain, crimps, etc.
I have found quite a useful method, and the price came up to be quite reasonable.
Just multiply the cost by 3. This is to include all those misc items, labour, and probably, my creativity.
Let’s just say, I would like to "test water" a bit.
See how my creations would stand in the vast market, especially my clay beads.

I am an entrepreneur, wish me luck!

I am experiencing one of those periods…
All work and no play.
Girl’s gotta earn her keep, yeah?
So, 2 solid weeks of running around the island.
(I am not really holding a air-conditioned office kinda work, you know.)

Get to wind down a bit during the weekends.
I rummaged through my boxes and boxes of stuff, and found Wigjig, a jewellery making tool, which I had bought ages ago, but never got down to really using it, till now. So look what I made.

Hey! I love it! It was a bit tiring on the fingers, I even develop coarse skin from all that pulling and looping of the wires.

The whole of Singapore is in celebrating mood, it seems.

The cardboard cows are part of an advertisement gimmick, and it has been painted red and white, in unison with the colours of Singapore’s national flag.
The cows can be seen grazing on tiny patches of pastures around the island.
So, here’s looking at you, babe!

Triangular flags like these decorates the whole neighbourhood.
They depicts national symbols like the crest, national flower, total defence, etc.

Flags are also displayed from homes around Singapore.
My, my... Aren’t they pretty?

Chinatown Food Centre

Yup, I went there today.
(Finally, after almost a month after they moved there.)
Boy, was the weather hot!
So after much huffing and puffing, I made it to the food centre.

So the next task is to locate my favourite mee and desert stall.
Well, lucky me, I don't have to look very far, because the stalls are quite near the entrance, and are actually opposite each other!

It was a Saturday, and lunchtime, so I would expect the food centre to be crowded.
Plus it was hot and quite stuffy...
I felt a bit uncomfortable, so I left after finishing my food. :-(
And the seats are quickly taken up!

What do you do if you find out that your so-called "friends" are not really truthful?

It was like catching your husband with another woman. Infidelity. Betrayal. Disloyality. Lies.
The sight of an ex-colleague in the car is not just a pure coincidence.

I felt hurt. Very hurt.
Maybe a little bit angry. What have I done to deserve this?

What's so difficult about a little honesty?

Then again, maybe we are just meant to be mere acquaintances.

Going Bananas

Dad bought a bunch of bananas yesterday.
Mmm… Not ripe yet, he says.
I hate to eat unripe bananas. I don’t like the after-taste.

Well, the bananas are just about ripe for tonight.
I had two after dinner. Yum, yum!
Good bowel movements guaranteed.

Actually, bananas are not my favourite fruit.
It is just simple to eat.
No need to bite hard, peel skin, make juice… Whatever.
Geez~~! How lazy can I get?

Sounds like some people I know.
It doesn’t smell much, except when rotten.
Phew! You can smell it from miles away.

They kinda reminds me of the fire hydrant… Heehee. :-)

I took a day off work today.
Yup, the World Cup Final.
Italy vs France.
The game ended with penalty shootout. Geez.
Italy won. Double geez.
ZZ got sent off during extra time for a senseless head-butt. Triple geez.

Dad says it is normal for sportsmen to have funny tempers... Hahaha~~
Reminds me of a Chinese folk story about "Iron Head" and "Cotton Wool Stomach"
Both died in dead lock.

This is the second World Cup I have been following closely.
The last World Cup held in Korea / Japan sorta clashes with my schedule.
With matches played during working hours, make watching live matches difficult.
But when the Cup is held in Europe, the time difference makes it easier for me.
I can wake up in the wee hours in the morning, just to watch the live matches, and still go to work.
(I never watch the repeats... No kick.)
The compromise is that I give up my favourite TV shows in the evening before to catch up on lost sleep.

People ask me which team I support.
Good question.
I love to support Singapore, but they didn’t make it.
Nevermind. Maybe next world cup, or the next, or the next...
Till cows come home.

Anyhow, I am just happy to watch football matches on TV.
45 minutes of advertisement-free action.

And I am such a sucker for goals.

Saturday. Cloudy.

Nice day for a walk, Dad says.
Bloody hot. I complained...

Anyhow, we made our way down to Holland Village.
We haven’t been there are a long time.
Let’s see...

Beadshop! This shop came highly recommended by fellow local beaders.
Finally~~! I have been there!
Wahahaha!

I went there to look specifically for beadcaps.
Well, I couldn’t find what I wanted, but look what else I found!

The shop was not difficult to locate, it was situated behind Holland Village shopping centre.
There are many varieties of findings, some not common.
I especially like the presentation, most of the stuff are packed in nice little square transparent boxes. (I am thinking I could recycle them.)
However, the prices are a bit steep, but the quality and service made up for it.

Pirates of the Chinatown Complexes

I went treasure a-hunting today.
Around Chinatown area.
Guess what? There are at least 4 beadshops in People’s Park Centre alone.
A real beader’s heaven...

Check out my treasure.
I have got cloisonnés, bone beads, glass pearls in different sizes (my favourite), matte round beads, ready-made bear-shaped pendants (tot that will make very good, "quick to make" gifts), and assorted findings for necklaces and bracelets.

I did my homework. I know where to get the best prices for the stuff I want.
Or where to get a particular finding that I need.
Today I feel like I am the happiest person in the whole world.
Wait till I see my bank account balance... :-P

Bought a new CD a while back.
Remember 2.
I have got Remember 1, so this is a must-have.
It contains songs from my time...
Pop from the 80's and early 90's.
Man, it could be considered oldies, for the younger people...
But it is still music to my ears.

Slow workweek for me.
But things are picking up from next week onwards.

I'd be happy that I can still catch the World Cup Finals...

I am making a lot of pendants out of polymer clay, my new muse.
And a good one too,
The clay is so versatile, and comes in many shades of colours.
I had fun mixing colours, cutting shapes, making beads.

World Cup: Only happen every 4 years.

Some of the world's best looking sportmen converge in one venue...
To chase a silly round black and white ball all around the grass pitch.
I like! Wahahahaha~!
Actually I watched the games for entertainment.
I do not support any particular team, but will pick out the matches which I think are interesting.
However, I will save my cheers for Asian teams like Japan and Korea, if they ever make it.

No stout for me, I am a beer / shandy / occasionally wine kind of gal.
But after 2 packets of peanuts for the opening match almost give me a sore throat.
Dang!!

I dun have SCV, so I will have to wait till the semis to catch all that live action again.
Till then.

New addition to the family

I had a new replacement for the family washing machine yesterday.
So shiok!
Dad was so excited.
Man, it was just a replacement of the old set.
The only BIG difference is the ability to use cold water.
(My old set comes with standard programs, and the temperature of the water is fixed.)

Dad was very happy.
The use of cold water for washing meant that his clothes with elastic bands will last longer.
Heehee... Right.
We even had dinner at Swensen's to celebrate.

Funny, that actually lifted my spirits a teeny weeny bit.
Guess I was depressed over all the decisions I had to make, whether at home or at work.
Geez, does that mean I can't handle stress?

I slept late last night.
In fact I slept late almost every night.
I dunno why, I just can't go to bed, unless I am really really tired.
Waking hours are spent on doing stuff.
Like so much to do, so little time.
I never had time for everything.
And I dun think I am slow in any way.

I have to learn to control my stress.
What I need is a long break, away from everything.
EVERYTHING.
